Nancy brought a situation to our session. Her car unexpectedly needed to go into the shop for service. She travels to people’s homes for her work, so without her car she was struggling. We discussed where in her body she felt the story as she told me. It was in her gut; a tightening, a clenching. After a few minutes of exploring the sensations, an emotion emerged. She voiced feeling vulnerable. She had to ask other people for help, borrow a car, and shuffle rides to drop off and pick-up her vehicle. We spent some time with vulnerability; the felt sense, the emotion, and the story. Nancy eventually felt safe to dive into her experience of vulnerability without the clenching in her gut.
Our bodies have innate wisdom to offer. Often times, we simply need to pay attention and receive the guidance of this wisdom. That is where SOMATIC HEALING begins. The sessions allow you to become more empowered to regulate your own nervous system and discover the wisdom in your body. You will be guided toward a deeper awareness of yourself while being held in a safe space.
“Somatic” comes from soma, a Greek word that means body. But in healing work, “somatic” means more than just the physical. It means the body as felt from within. It’s noticing what your body is doing—not just what you see or what someone else tells you, but what’s alive in your skin, muscles, breath, bones, heart, and nerves.
You have likely had a similar experience in your body. For example, when your finances are tighter than usual and you check your online bank statement, what do you notice in how your body responds? Maybe you avoid logging in due to the anxiety that might accompany the task?
This work is sacred and intimate. Finding the right practitioner for you is essential. Healing sessions are typically one-on-one lasting from 50 -90 minutes. We are now offering these services both online and in person. Want to have a free 15-minute session to see if it’s a good fit for you? Contact Molly Thomas: molly@inspiredyogaandhealth.com.
